Summer is coming to an end and it truly seems like it never happened. With something planned nearly every weekend for the last 2 months, I’m ready for things to go back to normal.
Check out what I’ve been up this month.
Watching
I just finished Euphoria and was blown away by Zendaya’s portrayal of a high school drug addict. I highly recommend checking it out. I also just started Succession, which is very serious but also has me interested after just two episodes.
As for my regular shows, I’m currently keeping up with Younger and Real Housewives of Orange County.
Listening To
John Mayer and Lana Del Rey. I’m so excited for her new album, which comes out later this week.
Eating
I’ve been eating horribly in general. Summer trips and events have taken over, but I did get to have a Beavertail and Sweet Jesus ice cream in the same weekend.
I just finished off my last box of the original Rice Krispie Treats cereal, which has now been completely changed. I’m hopeful they’ll return to the old recipe because the new one is horrible. Sign the petition here!
Shopping For
Back to school items and hockey equipment! Here in Ontario, Canada our kids head back to school the day after Labour Day. We’re set for shoes, backpacks, and school supplies, but I just realized this weekend that my son has about 2 pairs of pants that still fit him. More shopping for me!
This is the first year of hockey for both Holly and CJ, which means we’ve been collecting equipment and preparing for them to start in a few weeks. Hockey is seriously expensive, but I’m excited to see where it takes them.
Doing
This summer has been absolutely insane, but the highlight has been that at the beginning of the month my best friend got married! We headed down to city hall for a quick wedding and then had tons of fun at a backyard reception. If I could do it again, that’s how I would do it!
Last weekend we finally took our family vacation to Niagara Falls. It was super fun taking all 3 kids, but also extremely exhausting (so much walking!). Lucky for us, we got great weather and even managed to get on top of the Skywheel during the nightly fireworks.
I’ve also been decluttering our house and selling items like crazy. I’ve made over $300 in August alone. It just goes to show you how much “stuff” we have hiding in our homes.
Thinking
A lot about minimalism and simplifying. I’m someone who likes to have multiple projects on the go at once, but then at some point I start to feel overwhelmed by my own choices. One of my goals this year was to calm down with the projects and focus on myself a little more. 8 months in, I notice a world of difference and have started to translate it into our home by throwing away items I was saving, selling things, and organizing things in a more practical way.
It’s truly amazing how simplifying can change your life.
Planning
September feels very similar to the new year for me. The kids go back to school, the weather changes, and I feel completely refreshed and back on schedule. That means that right now I’m focusing on planning out the rest of the year.
I’ve started my Christmas shopping lists, already picked up some items for Halloween, and I’m planning out my blog posting schedule. I’m so excited for the rest of the year!
