I can’t believe it’s been 3 months since I’ve posted one of these. At the end of 2019, I decided it was time to step back from pumping out blog content and enjoy my holiday season. I may have let this little break go on a little too long, but I’m back!
Check out what I’ve been up to this past month.
Watching
In the past week alone, I’ve finished the second season of You, finished The Mind of Aaron Hernandez, and started Don’t F**k With Cats.
Normally I try and avoid serial killer, murder, etc. at all costs, but I highly recommend all three of these Netflix shows.
Beyond that, two of my favourite reality-ish shows returned this month – Vanderpump Rules and Siesta Key. New characters on both shows means tons of new drama.
Reading
Last week I did something I’ve never done in my entire life – I read an entire book in one day. I picked up Next Level Basic: The Definitive Basic Bitch Handbook written by Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder at 3pm and finished reading it by 9pm the same night.
It was a super easy read, full of lighthearted stories and jokes, but I couldn’t fully relate. As much as I love Stassi on the show… I don’t drink wine, hate ranch dressing, and have been in a relationship for 10+ years. The book wasn’t exactly written for me.
Listening To
For the past 3 months I’ve been absolutely obsessed with Harry Styles. Fine Line is such an incredible album that even my kids have learned the words to nearly every song. One of my best friends are I are going to see Harry in concert this July and I seriously can’t wait.
Otherwise, It’s been a lot of Tik Tok hits (my family loves that app). Doja Cat is a favourite of mine.
Current favourite song to play on repeat: Adore You – Harry Styles
Eating
I’ve been severely lacking at cooking anything lately. We’ve been living off fast instant pot meals and random charcuterie style dinners. This is definitely something that I struggle with on the daily. Being a working mom with two kids in activities leaves hardly any time to make “real” dinner. We make do, but this is something I’m always trying to do a better job at.
Shopping For
If you watch my insta-stories, you know I’ve had quite the saga surrounding finding CJ snowpants that fit. He’s got a bit of a belly and I can’t seem to find snowpants that fit him around the waist but aren’t super long (I’m certainly not attempting to hem snowpants). After no success, I decided to take his old pair, cut down the sides, and add in my own elastic extenders. They’re not perfect, but I tried my best! #DIYLife
We’ve also been shopping for some home upgrade items. Yesterday we purchased new doors for all of our bedrooms, which I’m hoping to have replaced by the end of February.
Doing
Driving myself crazy over windows and doors. I know this sounds crazy, but the past few weeks I’ve been immersed in finally settling on a company to take on this huge home renovation. After meeting with several companies and getting several quotes, I’m happy to say that we finally made a decision and will be getting new windows and doors in April.
I’ve written about how nervous doing such a large home renovation makes me, but the hard part is over. The papers are signed! Now I get to sit back and wait for our home to be transformed!
Thinking
About finding motivation. When life gets busy or things become “out of the ordinary” for our family, I tend to fall off the goal wagon and forget what I was doing in the first place. I’ve been in this weird funk since before Christmas – struggling to stick to anything.
I need to figure out how to get back to my normal, focused, organized self.
Planning
For the first half of the month, I was working hard on planning our goals and budget for 2020. We’re taking on some big things this year, and I want to do it right. Last year we managed to reduce our debt by $14,000, which is giving me an extra push.
I’ve also started brainstorming plans for my husband’s 30th birthday. I can’t believe we’re in the final year of our 20’s. Any awesome 30th birthday party ideas are welcome!
What are you up to this month?
