It finally feels like spring outside, and I’ve been feeling really great the past few weeks. It seems to me that this is the most productive time of year for most people and it makes me so happy!
Check out what I’ve been up this month. Currently May!
Watching
Last month I mentioned that I’ve been watching Easy on Netflix, and how devastated I am that there will only be one more season. I promise you this show is worth a watch. It explores sexuality and relationships in various scenarios, with various types of people, and with varying outcomes. The 3rd and final season just came to Netflix and I’m almost finished!
I watched Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, which I know has had mixed reception, but I loved it. I thought Zac Efron and Lily Collins were fantastic together.
Beyond that, two of my favourite shows are nearing season end. The Challenge has been awesome this season, and Vanderpump Rules has been even better (so. much. drama.).
Listening To
I stumbled across Kina on a playlist recently and have been in love with the chill vibes ever since. Get You The Moon is such a beautiful song.
I’ve also been listening to a lot of Crown The Empire. I saw them live last year with Underoath and they were so good!
Eating
It’s finally soft ice cream season, so of course we had to go and get chocolate dipped cones. I’m highly considering buying an ice cream maker.
We’ve also already started using the barbecue and eating tons of burgers, but lately my husband has been obsessed with the cheesy chicken, rice, and biscuit bake I posted about last week.
Shopping For
This past month has actually been fun for shopping! First of all, I got to go bridesmaid dress shopping for the wedding of our good friends, whose wedding our entire family is standing in. How cool is that!? I have to say, being a plus size woman and trying on sample size dresses is incredibly discouraging. Lucky for me, one of the stores we visited had the perfect dress is my size – it was meant to be.
I took Holly shopping for some new track clothes (her big meet is next week!) and ended up getting her a cart full of brand name athletic wear for only $40. I’m so thankful that her favourite store is Goodwill. Something I’ve always stressed to her is how thrift stores are not only better for our budget, they allow us to get all of the brands and unique items that we would never be able to afford otherwise. #FrugalMom
Last but not least, I’ve been spending a ridiculous amount of time in hardware stores. We’re smack in the middle of re-roofing our shed and many trips have been required. We also bought a new lawnmower this month as ours totally died (and was way too old to bother fixing). Lowe’s had 15% off lawnmowers and because we spent $250, we received a $50 savings card to go towards roofing supplies. Such a good deal!
Doing
It’s the time of year where we slowly start chipping away at the massive outdoor to-do list. Like I mentioned above, we’re right in the middle of re-roofing our shed. The shed is 16′ x 22′ with completely rotted plywood, so this isn’t an easy DIY project. We’re trying our best and learning as we go, but I’m super excited to fix up the shed so we can actually use this large space for something productive.
While my husband pulled nails out of trusses earlier this week, I managed to clean up the weeds in our backyard, add new jointing sand around our walkway, and clear out all of the toddler toys in our backyard. We put about 6 toys to the road and they were gone within a day!
Thinking
To be totally honest, I feel like I haven’t had many deep thoughts lately. Does that sound ridiculous?
I’ve been on auto pilot for the last little while, but I’m sure that will change next month.
Planning
Summer is insane. It seems like right now, in the middle of May, I’m already seeing our summer weekends filing up with commitments. I’m trying to make sure everything falls into line, but I have to admit that I hate seeing plans go so far into the future.
What are you up to this month?
