Happy November! I swear we’re living in this weird paradox where everything is going by incredibly fast, but at the same time dragging by. Does anyone else feel that way? It’s hard to imagine that in a month we’ll be prepping for the New Year. What a time to be alive!
It’s currently November 2020 – Check out what I’ve been up to these past few months.
Watching
This Is Us came back a few weeks ago and I’m loving the way that real events of 2020 have been incorporated into the show. It feels very relevant to what we’re all experiencing. This show has always been deep, but I think this season will hit harder than the others.
I’ve seen mixed reviews about Emily in Paris, but I really liked it. Fans of shows like Sex and the City, Gossip Girl, Younger, etc. will probably appreciate it the same way I do. The story line is over-the-top and wildly unrealistic, but also adorable and lighthearted.
Chris and I are also re-watching Silicon Valley, and I honestly forgot how funny it is.
Listening To
Fall has pushed me into a total melancholic trend, but I just couldn’t stay away from Ariana Grande’s new album – it’s so good! I’ve always been a fan of hers, but the songs on this album hit different.
I’m still big on AlexRainBirdMusic playlists, especially the newest one. I love discovering new songs outside of my typical top 50 bubble, and these playlists are my favourite way to do that.
Current favourite song to play on repeat: Just like Magic- Ariana Grande
Eating
I’m a picky eater. I’ve always stuck to what I know, but I’ve found myself recently trying a lot of new foods. Believe it or not, I had never in my life tried Baba Ganoush. Now? I’m obsessed.
Otherwise, our family has moved into typical cold weather meals – stews, soups, and pastas. It’s my favourite time of year!
Shopping For
Christmas shopping is in full swing! This year I’m planning to order 99% of my items online and I’ve already got a good chunk complete. Go me!
My kids’ wishlists include LED strip lights, bean bag chairs, and clothes. Not too bad, right?
How far are you with holiday shopping?
Doing
Somewhat normal life has resumed since September. The kids are back in school, hockey has resumed, and we’re catching up on appointments.
We’ve (very) slowly been getting the house back together since ripping up our flooring for the second time this year. I see tons of filling, sanding, and painting in my near future.
When November 1st hit, we decorated for Christmas and I swear the overall mood in our house improved. I’m 100% ready for this holiday season.
Thinking
For the last month or so, I’ve been feeling really overwhelmed and busy. The funny thing about it is that if I look back on life over the last 5 years, this is easily the least busy I’ve been.
I took some time to reflect on this and realized that all of the change is finally hitting me. Working from home creates this weird space where work and home are no longer divided – they’re blended together. As much as I love working from home, it feels like my days are running together with no time to just breathe.
I’m trying to bring myself into a better space now – taking more time for myself. This is just a weird time.
Planning
I have so many projects swirling around in my head – DIY Christmas decor, painting rooms in our home, starting a second IG, building a dining table, etc. Now I just need to prioritize and bang something out. Stay tuned…
How have you handled the last few months?
