It’s my favourite time of year. The leaves have finally changed, the air is nice and crispy, and our family is busier than ever. It’s hard to believe we’ve got less than 70 days left in 2019.
Check out what I’ve been up to this past month.
Watching
The Challenge War of the Worlds 2 is currently airing, and I’ve been re-watching old Challenge clips on YouTube non stop. If you haven’t watched this show, you’re missing out. It’s easily in my top 5 of all time.
Real Housewives of Dallas and the OC are on my weekly schedule, and well as KUWTK.
Same old, same old.
Listening To
I’m currently obsessing over AlexRainBirdMusic playlists on YouTube and Spotify. I’ve found so much incredible music through them and there’s more to come. If you love indie/folk music, check it out.
I’m also weirdly obsessed with John Mayer right now. His IG stories are hilarious and his music hits me right in the heart.
Current favourite song to play on repeat: Love is Blind – Dustin Tebbutt
Eating
Just like last year, my family has destroyed 4 batches of these pumpkin cream cheese swirl muffins already this season. They’re just SO good.
I’ve also been eating a lot of pasta (what else is new?). Fall comfort foods for the win.
Shopping For
After my son finally broke our 12+ year old couch, we spent the last month looking for a good replacement. After much consideration, we chose JYSK’s Mariager sofa sectional. We took the old couch outside on the weekend, and Instagram loved my “yard couch” photo (shown above).
Beyond that, I’ve been thrift shopping a ton. Most recently, I was on a hunt for hoodies and stumbled across several items of Bauer and Under Armour hockey undergarments worth well over $50 each. I paid less than $4 per item. A good find at the thrift shop truly makes my day.
Doing
Living at the arena. CJ has practice twice a week while Holly has practice once a week, games twice a week, and power skating once a week as well. It’s been a ton of driving and sitting in rinks, but it’s amazing to see the progress they’ve already made.
I guess I’m officially a hockey mom!
On top of that, I’ve been trying to review my 2019 goals and pick which incomplete ones I want to tackle before the year is over. Personal development happens year round!
Thinking
This year, we started gifting experiences instead of physical items and I want to continue that into the future. Our kids are at a point now where they hardly play with toys and that’s really coming through in their Christmas lists. They both have one item they really want… and that’s it.
It amazing to see my 4 year old say he wants to go somewhere new instead of get toys for Christmas. It means he’s learning from us.
Because of that, I’ve been toying with the idea of skipping Christmas for a vacation next year, but that’s a big deal. It might be a little smarter to do it when CJ is older, but we’ll see. I’ll keep it floating around my mind for a little while longer.
Planning
CJ’s 5th birthday is in 3 weeks and I have nothing planned for it! We’ve been somewhat consumed in prepping for a wedding we’re standing in this weekend (plus Halloween!), so I’ll come up with something soon.
Besides that, I’ve got my whole Christmas buying list planned out. Go me!
