Saving money is an absolute passion of mine and I love when I find simple and effective ways to do it. There are countless discount websites out there, but my favourite way of saving money on everyday purchases is through apps.
Here are 6 of my favourite money saving apps.
1. Rakuten (formally Ebates) – App + Rakuten.ca / Rakuten.com
Available in both the US and Canada. Sign up using my referral link here!
This is a cash back app. Shop your favourite retailers using the website portals and you will receive cash back after your items ship. So far, I’ve made over $300 using this app/website!
2. Drop – App only, available at earnwithdrop.com
Available in both the US and Canada. Download the app and use code 7x95h and we will both get $5 in points for free!
I seriously love drop. You can connect your bank account and automatically collect points when you purchase items from certain retailers that you add. For other retailers, simply shop through their link and receive the points back.
Many times, the points offers are a higher value than cash back sites offer, plus Drop offers tons of bonus point opportunities as well. 1000 points = $1 which you can cash out in gift cards. In a few months, I’ve already made over $100 on this app.
3. Checkout 51 – App + Checkout51.com
Available in both the US and Canada. Sign up using my referral link here and we will both get $5!
Checkout 51 is one of my old favourites because they offer cash back on home and grocery items. Simply purchase something on the list (new offers every Thursday) and upload your receipt. Once you reach $20, you can cash out! So easy.
I tend to utilize this app the most for in store purchases, where other cash back apps are for online shopping.
4. Caddle – App only, available at GetCaddle.com
Available in Canada only. Sign up and enter code KERRI98947 and we will both get a $1 bonus!
Caddle is very similar to Checkout51. Purchase something on the list, upload a receipt, and receive cash back. The biggest difference is that Caddle offers tons of surveys! Every Friday I sit down and earn cash for completing them.
5. Flashfood – App only, available at Flashfood.com
Available in Canada only. Sign up using my referral link here and get $5 off your purchase (which means free groceries!).
Flashfood is a relatively new program that allows specific Canadian grocery stores to get rid of food that would otherwise go to waste. Soon to expire products come up for grabs daily and are sold at a highly discounted price. Less waste and cheap groceries!? Sign me up.
Download the app, check it every day, and see what goodies you can find. My favourite is the fruit/veggie boxes as well as discounted meat for my freezer stash.
6. Field Agent – App + Fieldagent.net / ca.Fieldagent.net
Available in both the US and Canada.
This app has so many unique ways to make money. Download the app, complete screener surveys, and then look for mystery shops, scavenger hunts, and more.
I’ve done some cool mystery shops for places like Mcdonald’s and Freshii where I received free food. There are also opportunities where you don’t even have to purchase anything. For Costco mystery shops you simply have to find the listed item and take photos. It’s so easy!
