It’s been 1.5 years since our wedding day, and over time I’ve been sharing bits and pieces of our big day From the invitations, to the budget, to the ceremony itself, I’ve shared almost everything.
With that being said, I’ve finally reached the end of our wedding series. In this post, I’m sharing all the small details that were left out of my other posts – enjoy! (To start our wedding series from the beginning, click here or scroll to the bottom of this post.)
The Ceremony
Our decorator made my rose-gold dreams come to life. Although we were getting married and having our reception in the same room, I wanted some type of division between the two events. She created this amazing second backdrop for us to marry in front of while hiding our head table. When it was time for the reception, it was moved behind our cake as another focal point in the room (scroll down for a photo).
I quickly took this panorama the morning of our wedding. Here, you can see how we arranged the tables during the ceremony in order to make the transition later on easy. For so long, I worried that having both events in the same room would look cheap, but when the lighting was set it was absolutely beautiful.
The Foyer and Entry Table
I snapped this photo before everything was set up, but the sequin table overlay was gorgeous. This table was placed in the middle of the foyer and held our guestbook, card box, memory candle, and wedding timeline. It was the first thing guests saw as they arrived.
This memorial candle was a quick and easy DIY. We already had the candle laying around our home, so I purchased this decal on Amazon and applied it.
I printed and framed a timeline for the night and included some things to do between the wedding and reception for our out-of-town guests.
Our guestbook was the luckiest Amazon find and also my favourite detail. This set is no longer available, but we purchased it for $59.99 CAD. It came with everything including the frame, a personalized engraved center heart, a stand for the frame, a small sign with instructions, and a box for wooden hearts. I ordered extra wooden hearts on Amazon as well.
We provided coloured pens for everyone to sign and drop a heart, and we ended up getting so many cute messages. After the wedding, the frame came off the stand and is now hung in our hallway. Best guestbook ever!
Unfortunately, no photos were taken of our seating chart. I wish I had one to share!
The Reception
This projection was so beautiful! Along with the pink uplighting, it added so much to the room.
To the left, you can see how our ceremony backdrop was moved to showcase the cake for the reception.
Our head table – white ruffles with rose gold touches. The draping was absolutely beautiful.
The tables were simple, yet so beautiful. We used floor length, white silk tablecloths and added a small pink and white floral arrangement as the centerpiece. The floral arrangements were accompanied by gold glitter LED candles, a gold glitter table number, and a fun reception timeline card.
I created the reception timeline cards using the same cards our save-the-dates were printed on. I included all of the night’s events as well as our wedding hashtag.
The Photo Booth
The night’s best attraction was definitely the photobooth. We decided to spend the money and get a fully enclosed booth that printed photos for our guests all night. The company we chose included an awesome box of props and everyone had a blast.
The photo prints doubled as awesome wedding favours, as each one included our wedding date and logo.
The Food & Drinks
We opted for an open bar. Yes, it was expensive, but it was just part of the deal for us. We purchased our own liquor and returned the leftovers.
Our food was fairly standard “wedding food” – we’re pretty basic eaters anyways. Pasta, chicken, potatoes, salad, soup, etc. We served pizza as a midnight snack, but dessert was definitely the best part.
We had a massive dessert table, but almost everyone’s favourite part was the Ice Cream Bar. For a very reasonable fee, we hired an ice cream cart to come in after dinner and allow everyone to make their own sundaes. So good!
The Music
As I Walked Down the Aisle: “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” – Sleeping at Last – Chris picked this song, and to this day hearing it makes me cry.
Our Fist Dance: “Love Song” – 311 – This has been our song for as long as I can remember, so it was an easy choice.
Father Daughter Dance: “Comfortably Numb” – Pink Floyd – When I was younger, my father and I bonded over our love of Pink Floyd, specifically this song. It might seem weird to other people that we used this song, but it really does mean something to me.
Mother Son Dance: “Your Song” – Elton John – Chris picked this song for his mom simply because it reminded him of her. You can’t go wrong with Elton John.
Groom Daughter Dance: “A Thousand Years” – Christina Perri – Our girls chose this song for a dance with their daddy. This dance was really special to them as well as to us as it signified our two families joining together as one. To this day, they talk about how much they felt like princesses that day.
Other Details
We were initially so against hiring a limo strictly because of the cost, but ended up biting the bullet and hiring this super Cool Bus. In the end, it was the right decision as driving from getting ready to photos to ceremony to more photos and the reception would have been such a struggle!
Last but not least, my ring! Chris did such a great job picking it.
And that’s it! I really hope you enjoyed our wedding series. I’m sad it’s over, but I’m also so happy that I was able to share everything with my readers. If you’re planning a wedding of your own, tell me all about it in the comments!
