Looking for some recipe inspiration on Pinterest, I came across this yummy looking Twix bar trifle.
I decided to recreate it, but put my own spin on the idea. The recipe in the link calls for a salted caramel mousse, but because there is a lack of love for caramel in my home, I decided to switch it up and go for a double chocolate!
This Twix trifle recipe is so simple!
I used 1 box of milk chocolate instant mousse mix, 1 box of instant chocolate pudding mix, and about 10 Twix bars.
Next time I make this, I’m going to put a hold on the Twix bars. 10 bars made for an uneven ratio and I would recommend 6-7 Twix bars if you decide to try it yourself!
I made my mousse and pudding in separate bowls and let them stand for the required about of time (I put the mousse in the freezer for a while to speed up the process). While letting the mousse and pudding set, I chopped up the Twix bars into small pieces.
When all was set and ready, I found a dish. This was not an easy task. I had been looking for a trifle bowl (similar to this gorgeous one) everywhere for about 3 days, and gave up when I realized I could use a massive vase. It worked out wonderfully, just so you know!
So, I started out with a layer of pudding, followed by a layer of mousse.
Next, I tossed on a layer of Twix, and decided to drizzle on some caramel sauce to make up for the lack of caramel mousse. Like I said, I later realized that the amount of Twix I used was way too much, so use this picture as a guide, but subtract a little.
Repeat the process until you are all finished.
I would definitely use this vase again, and fill it to the top. The wide neck opening is perfect for scooping.
Twix Trifle = love.
Seriously. I had the pleasure of enjoying it later on, and it was absolutely delicious. I’m glad I swapped out the salted caramel mousse for the milk chocolate mousse. So good.
