Don’t hate me for saying it, but I absolutely adore Valentine’s day. Everything is pink, love is in the air, and I get an excuse to eat chocolate. What could be better?
For Valentine’s day this year, Holly and I decided to make our own gummies, each with their own fun theme, to pass out to her class. We’ve made gummies before using Nostalgia’s gummy candy maker, but the recipes included aren’t my favourite. I went on a hunt for a new gummy recipe and this was the winner.
– Whisk
– Silicon moldsFor our gummies, we used cherry and strawberry Jello.
The puzzle piece and heart molds are from Ikea.
The worm, fish, and bear molds came with the Nostalgia gummy candy maker.

Making the gummies was incredibly easy, and preparing a batch took all of 10 minutes.
1. In a bowl, whisk together 1 packet of gelatin, 1 box of jello, and 1/3 cup of cold water.
2. Let the mixture sit and dissolve for 10 minutes.
3. Microwave the mixture for 30 seconds, stir, and repeat. Do this 1-3 times until fully dissolved.
4. Lightly spray silicon molds with cooking spray. Personally, I spray and then remove the excess with paper towel.
5. Using a liquid dropper, quickly fill the candy molds. The mixture will start to set in the bowl if you take too long.
6. Place in the refrigerator for 20 minutes to set.
7. When set, gently remove the gummies from the molds.
Our idea all along was to make individual baggies of gummies with cute corresponding tags. Making them turned out to be easier than I thought.
To make the bags, we used:
– Markers
In total we made 5 types, and Holly and I decided on some cute sayings to go along with each shape:
“Out of all the fish in the sea, you’re the one for me.”
“You’re the missing piece of my heart.”
“You have slithered your way into my heart.”
“I heart you.”
“You are beary special to me.”We simply wrote “Love, Holly” on the back of each tag.
After bagging the gummies, we affixed the tags and added some felt heart stickers. They turned out so good! I’m obessed!
This was such a fun, kid-friendly DIY. The gummies taste amazing and even have a bit of a sour flavour, which I love.
My mind is running through all the other times I could make these gummies – birthday party favours, Halloween treats, etc. Amazon has so many silicon molds that the options are endless. Happy Valentine’s Day!
